Industrial Relation in Australia Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Mechanical Relation in Australia - Essay Example To comprehend the change, it is helpful to quickly excuse two regular clarifications for association decay. The first is that associations declined on the grounds that laborers' turned out to be progressively incredulous about them. Indeed, perspectives will in general be a perfect representation of association quality. At the point when organization enrollment expand during the 1970s, Australians turned out to be bound to tell surveyors that they thought associations had an excess of intensity, and more averse to concur that associations had been something beneficial for Australia. Correspondingly, as associations melted away during the 1990s, the part of individuals who believed that associations had an excessive amount of intensity or that Australian would be in an ideal situation without associations consistently diminished. Another contention that is some of the time made is that deunionisation was an aftereffect of the decrease in genuine wages that occurred under the Accord. H owever as David Peetz calls attention to in his book Unions in a Contrary World, this clarification infers that unionization ought to have declined more during the 1980s (when genuine wages fell) than the 1990s (when genuine wages rose). Actually, the converse is valid - the greatest fall in unionization happened during the 1990s. The most critical factor in Australian deunionisation has been changes to the lawful system administering associations. Peetz calls attention to that somewhere in the range of 1990 and 1995, moderate governments in five out of six states presented enactment planned for forbidding necessary unionization (restricting shut shops), empowering singular haggling, and making the progress to non-grant inclusion simpler. In the late-1980s, the greater part of every single patron were required to be an endorser as a state of their business. During the 1990s, liberated from the prerequisite to have a place, enormous numbers decided to quit. Obviously, the associations hit hardest were the ones that were generally dependent on obligatory unionism laws. The new system was secured in 1996, when the recently chosen Howard Government for all intents and purposes canceled necessary unionism across the country, and made it progressively hard for associations to enlist and strike. The following most significant driver of deunionisation has been raising rivalry. Prodded by microeconomic changes, levy cuts, and a rejuvenated Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the business sectors for purchasing most items and administrations are presently generously more serious than they were during the 1970s. At the point when firms appreciate an imposing business model or oligopoly position, it is simpler for them to pay higher wages to their workers. Costs are higher in non-serious markets, and in the language of financial matters, this produces rents. These rents are then mutual between managers (who appreciate higher benefits than they would in a serious market) and laborers (who win more than in a serious market). At the point when imposing business models are separated, and showcases become progressively serious, the board needs to begin reducing expenses. This spots pressure on the board to receive more grounded enemy of association strategies so as to less en the compensation bill. The third clarification for falling association thickness is the development in

If youre interested in doing online writing, then its important that your writing skills are greatamazing..brilliant! Its true though that you can get started as a freelance writer with no experience. But, you are wondering, how to improve your writing skills. Anyone from anywhere in the world can do this, but they need to be able to effectively write in English and be able to write coherently and for an online audience as well. Im not the greatest writer out there; but I do know how to write effective copy that my clients love. To help you as a new writer, here are strong writing tips you can adopt in your writing process to help you become a better writer. How to Improve Writing Skills As a Beginner 1. Write Every Day One of the best writing tips I can give you is to write every day. You need to practice writing to become a better writer. Can you write about anything? Well, yes, you can. I own several blogs and write about various topics from parenting tips to pregnancy tips to freelancing tips to budgeting tips. The fact that Im writing online content in various topics helps me maintain my writing skill and helps me gain more experience writing for an online audience. As a new writer or freelance writer, its probably best to kill two birds with one stone by writing every day in your niche. This can help you build your writer portfolio and improve your overall writing skill. Other ways to incorporate writing every day is to write social media posts. If you have a Twitter profile or a Facebook profile, start creating a post a day and write two or three sentences on what youre promoting or doing. This can help you with copywriting techniques and paring down your words to fit a social media post. 2. Create an Outline On of the best ways to improve your writing skill is to create an outline of everything you write. This is especially true if you land a freelance writing job. Clients want a coherent and complete post, so having an outline can help make sure you include everything your client wants. For me, I think about what I want to write about and create subtopics and then other ideas I want to write about. For more help, you can see how other freelance writers and bloggers develop their writing process. 3. Read What You Want to Write About Okay. Reading can also help with improving your writing skills as many of you know. This is the same for freelance writers. If you read what you want to write about your writing niche then youll effectively become a better writer overall. Why? Well, youll understand your niche better. Youll also read from other bloggers and writers and marketers on their take on your writing niche. How do they talk about the popular health food called Keto bombs, for example? You also get to read how these writers use their words and write sentences for an online audience. All of this can help you develop your writing skills. When I began as a freelance writer, I read a WHOLE LOT about freelance writing and blogging. I absorbed HOW each blog post was written, how they structured their sentences and the type of language they used into my own writing. 4. Choose Simple Words Keep it simple, sam (K.I.S.S)! You may think you sound smarter if you use complex words but thats not true. In the online world, you want your writing to be at a 4th-8th grade reading level. Thats right! Theres no need to write a blog post like your thesis paper for college. In fact, that probably wont help you gain blog traffic or clients. Whats better is to ditch those big fancy words and use simple, yet effective words when you write. Its almost like youre writing as you would be talking just without much slang andums. 5. Convey Your Message Easily Clients want smart writing thats engaging and will capture their message perfectly. As a writing tip, you need to learn how to convey that message from your client easily in your writing. This means not being too wordy when describing things. Now, dont get me wrong Ive been known to be a tad wordy at times in my writing, but I think I make up for it with my ease of writing. Thats why its important to have that first draft. Write and then let it sit. You have to take the time to transform that first draft into the article youll submit to your client. This may mean cutting entire paragraphs, or changing ideas around. 6. Avoid Filler Words Filler words like: that, very, just, really, etc.. are just that..filler. There is no need to add those extra words in your sentences, unless its there for intention. I work hard not to have those extra filler words and I often do, but Im still editing my work and trying to catch all those extra words before I hit publish! I know Im not the best writer. I dont have an English degree. But, that hasnt stopped me from making a living as a writer! If I can do it, you can too! Theres a balance of using enough words to convey your message. This will take time to develop and help you improve your skills as a new writer. 7. Keep Sentences and Paragraphs Short If youve noticed in this blog post, Im generally writing one sentence paragraphs. This makes it easy for you the reader to read my content. If you want to become a freelance writer and write online, then write shorter paragraphs and shorter sentences. Online users dont have the best attention spans, so make your writing easy on the eyes! 8. Invest in an Editing Tool I personally use Grammarly for all my edits online. From blog writing to client pieces to social media posts and more. Its my go-to editing tool and has helped me fine-tune my writing. As a freelance writer, one of the tools you need is an editing tool. You may think you just need a proofreader like your partner or friend, but I also urge you to have an edit tool first. For me, I edit my writing with Grammarly, proofread it myself and then have my husband read it as final read through. 9. Just Write The first step to help you improve your writing is to just write and keep on writing. Try not to edit while you work (I still do this) and let your creative juices flow. After I create my outline, its much easier to just write it all out. Since I blog every day, I am used to writing a lot and its getting easier and easier to just write! Become a Writer Today! Now is the time to become a freelance writer and get paid for your writing! How great is that? Let me know your best writing tip to help other freelance writers become better writers!

Dont Enter the Dragon Introduction The state visit and the pompous reception of China’s president Hu Jintao to the US served to show how important the economies of these two countries are to each other.Advertising We will write a custom article sample on Don’t Enter the Dragon specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More China has the capacity to produce and American has a ready market for its products and also enough money to invest in the Chinese economy. Many American investors in a move to have a share of China’s boom have put a lot of money in China’s business both big and small. In fact, many of these businesses are now trading on the US stock exchanges. The problem though is that some of these businesses seem to specialize in unacceptable business practice and end up ripping off investors. This practice was noted in two of the hottest Chinese stocks of 2009, Fuqi and Rhino international (Surowecki 1). Fuqi and Rhino International Fuq i and Rhino international were at one point number one and two on the top 100 list of the Investors Business Daily. An announcement made in 2010 by Fuqi claimed that the profits of the company had been overstated for a good part of the year 2009. Ten months afterwards the company has not presented any earning statement and therefore, it is not known whether it is making a profit or a loss. Rhino, on the other hand, has received criticism that its accounting is fraudulent and that the entire company is just a sham. It emerged that these allegations were indeed true when the company admitted that two of its manufacturing contracts never existed. This also meant that its financial statement was not reliable. The company lost its listing in NASDAQ after failing to be transparent in its financial details. So far its stock has dropped by 90% from its all-time high (Surowecki 1). Chinese Firms Chinese firms have earned a bad reputation in regard to openness of their financial details. This has forced S.E.C to carry out investigations in these stocks. It has emerged that many of these companies have two sets of revenue numbers, one is reported to S.E.C and the other is reported to Chinese authorities.Advertising Looking for article on business economics? Some executives treat companies as personal bank accounts where they just withdraw money as they wish (Surowecki 1). Auditing Mistake The regulatory system used failed to protect the interest of investors because Chinese firms have exploited it to their advantage. They manage to do this by using the reverse merger tactic whereby they buy American companies with a stock listing but few actual assets. They then change the company name to enable the company trade on NASDAQ or Amex. Through the merge tactic the company becomes part of the listed companies without any restriction or scrutiny. After establishing their base on a stock exchange it becomes hard to be kicked off. For instance, Fuqi has not filled statements for sometime, but it has been given a chance until March. Auditing the company is also hard because some of the auditors are Chinese who only protect their own interests (Surowecki 1). Conclusion The bad publicity has done little to warn investors. Reverse mergers are increasing every year because China offers many people the hope of getting rich quickly. Just like what happened in the US in the 19th century during the construction of the Railroads. The business was demoralizing, but because it offered prospects of enormous wealth, many people ventured into it. History is repeating itself; there may be fraudsters and swindlers targeting investors. Work Cited Surowecki, James. Don’t Enter the Dragon. New Yorker, 2011. Intellectual Property - Essay Example The United Kingdom has had matters to do with intellectual property as well as rights for the same. This paper looks into some of the implications on the same with reference to technical protection measures as well as anti-circumvention provisions as captured in certain sections of UK’s legislation on property rights. Copyright monopoly refers to the private ownership of a product by the producer. The government protects the right of the ownership through written acts to safeguard the production of counterfeits by unauthorized owners. In order to obtain the copyright monopoly, the government requires the producer to do an original registration of the full details of the product. The produces must have a license for the product for him or her to have the property right. The effect is that whenever a counterfeit to the same product appears in the market, the producer has the right to complain and even sue the counterfeit producers. Upon primary and secondary infringement of copy right 16-21, the perpetrator is liable for a legal suit in the UK intellectual property law. The same infringement attracts termination of the product from the market. Infringement of the laws applies to the licensed products, whose owners had been conferred with the full ownership license and rights. Murungi, Michale. Report from the law via internet conference. Japanese Canadians During Wwii Essay Example for Free

Japanese Canadians During Wwii Essay Japanese people were blamed for everything from a bad crop to a flat tire† (Biase). Japanese Canadians claimed they were given many dirty and hateful looks, and overheard â€Å"people cursing at Japanese for their car troubles† (Biase). The Japanese Canadians were being punished for a crime they did not commit. Canada’s only defence for its actions was that, â€Å"Japanese people were not white and they ‘could’ be spies† (Biase). This meant people were suspicious and literally afraid of Japanese for being spies sent from Japan. As a result, Japanese Canadians had to deal with being blamed for things they did not deserve, thus resulting in being treated unjustly as a human being. This notice was distributed throughout British Columbia. If any Japanese were found in the prohibited areas listed, they would be incarcerated. Thirdly, the Japanese Canadians were sent to internment camps across Canada against their will. In Canada, there were 10 internment camps where, â€Å"3 were road camps, 2 were prisoner of war camps (POW) and 5 were self-supporting camps† (Robinson). Internment camps is a â€Å"large detention  center created for political opponents,  enemy aliens, people with  mental illness, members of specific ethnic or religious groups, civilian inhabitants of a critical war-zone, or other groups of people, usually during a war† (Dictionary). In this case, internment camps in Canada at the time were designed for only Japanese Canadians. Internment camps were labour/work camps, which required heavy-duty work for the 22,000 imprisoned Japanese Canadians to do. Since World War II caused a large shortage of farmers, especially sugar beet farmers, the Security Commission Council organized, â€Å"Sugar beet projects to combat the labour shortage. This gave Japanese males a choice. The choice was to work in road camps as slaves or go to the beet camps and be with their families. Working in the beet camp was the choice taken by the majority of Japanese married men† (Biase). Considering the Japanese Canadians had to live inside the camps, the living conditions inside the internment camps were poor. They were crowded and were primitive with no electricity or running water. A story from Hideo Kukubo tells what life was like during the war: â€Å"I was in that camp for four years. When it got cold the temperature went down to as much as 60 below. The buildings stood on flat land beside a lake. We lived in huts with no insulation. Even if we had the stove burning the inside of the windows would all be frosted up and white, really white. I had to lie in bed with everything on that I had at one time there were 720 people there, all men, and a lot of them were old men. This is just one of the many horrible stories the Japanese Canadians experienced. Therefore, the Japanese Canadians were treated unfairly when they were forced to work and live in internment camps. In conclusion, the Japanese Canadians suffered during the period 1929 to 1945. They had their property and rights taken from them, they were blamed for unnecessary things and forced into camps where labour was the only thing you did all day. Therefore, when Prime Minister Brian Mulroney announced a historic redress settlement for the Japanese Canadians on September 22, 1988, it truly was the best thing to do, even though it was long overdue.

Macroeconomics Song Essay

The poem’s major theme revolves around the unravelling of the US financial sector – and particularly its impact on investment banks – in the wake of the recent global economic recession that affected the US and most of the world economies. Some of the macroeconomic concepts addressed – tacitly and explicitly – include: executive compensation, and the business cycle (Paxton, 1). The crisis is said to have primarily been triggered by the sub prime mortgage crisis. Traditionally, investment banks and other lending institutions have financed their customers’ borrowings from the deposits they collect from the members of the public. With the demand for credit finance to purchase essential items such as homes rising exponentially, the deposits became inadequate to finance the borrowing requirements and many of these financial institutions resorted to innovative financial products such as the securitization model or mortgage backed securities. Here, the financial institutions sell bonds. Those buying the bonds are guaranteed of getting their money back after a certain duration plus an attractive interest, and the money raised from floating these bond is advanced to the borrowers (in this case, prospective homeowners). The bondholders will be paid back their money whether the borrowers pay the bank back or default. Thus, it can be seen that the investment banks here shoulder substantial risks (Zeese, 1; Rasmus, 3; BBC, 1). The main problem was that these loans were made out to a segment of the market that is considered risky due to its low income and poor credit history. This segment has been referred to as the sub-prime mortgage segment. As long as the prices of homes continued to rise, this model of financing home purchases made sense because the borrowers could refinance their home purchases. However, and against all expectations, the real estate bubble that had been so prolonged in the country burst, and home prices began trending south at a dramatic rate. The import of all these is that the sub prime mortgage borrowers were unable to pay back what they had borrowed. They defaulted, leading to massive foreclosures (Zeese, 1; Rasmus, 3; BBC, 1). The loans that had been made out by the financial institutions were in the tune of billions of dollars. When these borrowers defaulted, the banks were left holding toxic assets, which they wrote down leading to massive losses. A number of them were pushed to the brink of bankruptcy. These include: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Goldman Sachs, AIG, Merrill Lynch, Bears Stearns and Lehman Brothers (Zeese, 1; Rasmus, 3; BBC, 1). It is this backdrop that provides the context for the poem. The poet parodies the false sense of security that these institutions had projected – for long, investment bankers such as Lehman Brothers had been viewed as beacons of stability in the American economy, doling out priceless advice to Americans on maters economic. But as the poet shows, the sub prime mortgage crisis unmasked them for who they are, left them at a loss of what to do, and they have turned out to be â€Å"the blind leading the blind†(Paxton, 1). One wonders how, with all their wisdom, the investment bankers could have hedged their risks upon such a risky market as the sub-prime mortgage segment. One of the immediate responses to the financial crisis was the rollout of a bailout package by the US government (whose worth was â€Å"seven hundred million grand,† in the words of the poet) (Paxton, 1). The failing institutions were major beneficiaries of this bailout package. According to Nanking (1), Bears Stearns was bought by JP Chase for $236 million, with the Federal Reserve Bank providing a staggering $30 billion to facilitate its purchase. Courtesy of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008, the government is said to have put in some $400 billion in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The AIG on its part received at least four cash bailouts, all of them amounting to $180 billion in total (Nanking, 1). The poet strongly questions the ethics behind these bailout packages, given that the crisis that affected the investment banks was largely self-inflicted. For example, apart from poor judgment resulting in the sub-prime mortgage crisis, the problems which the banks faced were also catalyzed by poor management practices such as excessive executive pay. The problems facing the banks also broke out at a time the issue of executive pay was coming under the spotlight. For example, Linn (2) writes that in 1970, top executives were earning 44 times what subordinate workers got and that by 2007 this had jumped to 344 times what the subordinate employees got. More telling is the fact that the CEO’s of Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch, two of the failed investment bankers, received a total of over $117 million in spite of leading their organizations down the drain (Bass and Beamish, 1). Lloyd Blankfein, Goldman Sach’s top honcho, got $54 million, when the bank made a loss, with the 116 investment banks that had been short listed for aid under the bailout package having paid a cool $1.6 billion as bonuses to their CEO’s. AIG was mulling paying its CEO $165 million, when it had made a loss of over $60 billion (Bass and Beamish, 1). Given that these banks had been advanced cash under the bailout plan (which itself is from taxpayer funds), it is logical to assert that it is the average American (who earns 344 times less what the CEO gets) who is being made to pay for the mistakes of the CEO’s. It is this obscenity that the poem seems to rant about. Listen to the poet: â€Å"And it said that failure was the only crime. If you really screwed things up, then you were through; Now––surprise!––there is a different point of view. All that crazy rooty-tootin’ And that golden parachutin’ Means that someone’s making millions––just not you!† Works Cited: BBC. (2007). Josue Matias 9/21/2014 English 103 Causal Analysis Over the past decade drug cartels has had a free flow through Central America to import illegal drugs to the U.S. Even with a strict drug policy drugs are still crossing the Mexican border. Due to corruption and political influence drug cartels are able to manipulate the government to go undetected. The drug cartel is infamous for their ability to kidnapped, corrupt, and kill anyone trying to crackdown or expose any operation. Due to this corruption within local governments drug activity has been able to flourish causing countless lives of innocent people. Mexico has known about the drug issues for over half a century. However, due to the foreign policy between Mexico and the U.S there has been little to no effort to come to terms to stop the murders in Mexico.
